Joint reporting on the human rights situation of Japan for the Human Rights Committee Task Force

On Feburary 29, 2008, a joint submission on the general situation of human rights in Japan by the Japan International Human Rights NGO Network and 28 organizations, coordinated by IMADR Japan Committee, was made to the Human Rights Committee for its 92nd session (external link), where it will hold a Task Force to produce a list of questions to be posed to the Government of Japan.

The 5th periodic report created by the Japanese Government is scheduled to be considered by the Human Rights Committee Task Force at the 92nd session of the Committee to be held from March 17 to April 4, 2008 in New York. The report will then be considered by the Human Rights Committee at its 94th session, which will be held October 13-31, 2008 in Geneva.
